*Homecoming 2016

Valle Catholic Grade School celebrated the completion of their Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge with an assembly on Thursday, October 6th. PreK-Grade 8 students joined in on the fun.

 The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge ran from May 12 – September 9, 2016  Valle finished #489 out of thousands of schools across the United States.  Valle had 74 students participate in the challenge for a total of 76,450 minutes read in their second year of participation in the challenge. The school will be looking to increase that total in future years.

 The assembly opened with a prayer led by 6th Grader, Collin Abt followed by Principal, Mrs. Metzger announcing the winners. The top reader at Valle with 6745 minutes read was 5th Grader, Camryn Skaggs who will have the honor of being “Principal for the Day”.

 In 2nd Place was 8th Grader, Gage Heil and 3rd Place belonged to 8th Grader, Matthew Gettinger.  Both received $10 gift cards to Sweet Things Candy Shop. 
 Mrs. Kyla Palmer received a $25 Scrip card of her choice as the teacher with the highest class participation.

The middle school Student Council representatives led the entire school in a fun book trivia game that included students across all grade levels. 3rd Grader, Drake Meyer and 8th Grader, Carter Hoog faced off with a tiebreaker question with Drake scoring to claim victory for his team!

The 8th Graders then performed a routine with help from the Valle band.
 
The assembly ended with the drawing for the two $25 gift cards, two $50 Scrip gift cards and two Kindle Fire hd 7s.  The winners’ names were drawn by Mrs. Metzger’s Kdg helper, Charlie Naeger.
 
The winners of the $25 cards were 2nd Grader, Sam Kuehn and 8th Grader, Eva Oberle.  Braxton Schwartz, Kdg and Eva Oberle received the $50 Scrip gift cards, and Kdg student, Jayce Bieser and 5th Grader, Alissa Grass were the lucky recipients of the Kindle Fires.
