Valle Catholic School held a pro life prayer service on Thursday, January 22, 2015 to coincide with members of the Valle Catholic family participating in the 42nd Annual March for Life in Washington DC which commemorates the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
Valle students gathered around the pro life statue in the courtyard of the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The statue, donated in memory of Charles “Bud” Tlapek, has the inscription: “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more.” Matthew 2: 18-19.
Prayers were read from the letter of Paul to the Colossians and a pro life litany was recited requesting prayers for all those affected by the tragedy of abortion. Special prayers were said for the safety of the Valle Catholic High School students, parents, and staff in Washington DC.
The prayer service closed with a blessing by Father Greg Klump and the singing of “Isaiah 49: I Will Never Forget You”.
