SEMO Explorer Van Visit

Valle Catholic School recently had a visit from Gary Tyler, Outreach Specialist from Southeast Missouri State University.
SEMO Exp 1

Mr. Tyler travels in the Southeast Explorer van, a 38-foot-long mobile teaching and learning center operated by the Southeast Missouri Regional Museum at Southeast Missouri State University. The van brings the Southeast Missouri Regional Museum to the school.

In the current exhibit, students and teachers were able to experience American history and culture through a power point presentation and display cases filled with artifacts, maps, charts, and stories from European exploration to present times. Students also participated in scavenger hunts.

The mobile learning unit visits area schools in the University’s 26-county service area, carrying interactive exhibits, interpretive panels and multimedia materials. The rotating exhibits on archaeology, NASA, Native Americans, Missouri history, and American history provide students with opportunities to see and touch artifacts previously only available in place-bound museums.
SEMO Exp 4
Valle Catholic would like to thank the Southeast Missouri Regional Museum for this learning opportunity.
