Rev. Dennis Schmidt, Pastor of Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church and Valle Catholic Schools announced recently that the Archdiocese of St. Louis and Archbishop Robert Carlson have pledged $150,000 to the Ste. Genevieve/Valle Capital Campaign to support efforts for improvements to salaries of School Educators. The funds are committed from the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).

Ste. Genevieve/Valle is continuing its enormously successful Campaign Vision of: – Excellence in Education, – Replacement of Technology, – Purchase and Renovation of the historic “Rozier Building”, Replacement of Bleachers and Windows, – and, construction of a new Field House. The commitment from the Archdiocese will be dedicated for improvement to teacher salaries.

“Archbishop Carlson has always heralded the importance of Catholic Education in the Ste. Genevieve County region and today we received an extraordinary commitment, helping us insure that we will recruit and retain the finest available teachers,” said Fr. Dennis Schmidt. “The Archdiocesan Office has partnered with us throughout our     journey, providing financial, construction and campaign counsel. As pledges have been committed and contributions received, the Archdiocese has provided short-term bridge loans so that we could maintain our aggressive implementation schedule.”

Much of the planned construction is completed with the remaining projects on schedule. The Field House is complete; the bleachers are installed; the Rozier construction is well underway; the IT infrastructure is replaced; and a plan has been implemented for the new teacher salary structure. Recently, the Campaign Committee began reaching out to Valle Alumni.

Fr. Schmidt added, “From the start of the Campaign, the Parish and School families have responded far past our expectations. Our community is proud – if we ask for 10 volunteers to help with a project, 25 show up. Local government and public entities have gone out of their way to insure a can-do atmosphere.

We still have much to do with many families still making their commitment, but, in Ste. Genevieve, we have all grasped the Campaign Theme of Faith, Family and Foundations.”
