A number of years ago the Perry County School District implemented a character education program into their classroom curriculum. They later expanded it to include their sporting activities. As part of that program, their student athletes are asked to nominate an athlete from an opposing team who demonstrates good character and sportsmanship during a game. A Character Athlete Breakfast Brunch is held every spring to honor those nominated.
Four students from Valle Catholic High School were honored recently by the Perry County School District.
Volleyball players – coached by Nancy Fischer and Carla Basler:
Freshman Paige Naeger, daughter of Clarissa and Dan Naeger; Junior Emmy Fischer, daughter of Anita and Billy Fischer, and Senior Sydnie Weiler, daughter of Sandy and the late Marty Weiler.
Basketball player – coached by Dusty Wengert and Nathan Gegg: Freshman Cole Wood, son of Amy and Ron Wood.
Valle Catholic is quite proud of our student athletes and congratulate them on this recognition of their outstanding sportsmanship and character!
