The Ste. Genevieve Youth Plein Air Fall Event competition was held on Wed, October 16th and Saturday, October 19th in which 58 youths, ages 5 to 18 participated. A special thank you goes to the Downtown Renewal Project Group and the Ste Genevieve Art Guild for sponsorship.
Volunteers from Valle Catholic and Ste. Gen served as chaperones. Mary Peura, President of Ste. Genevieve Art Guild was the judge. Winners are listed below.   Plein Air painting is art done on location, outdoors, with artists trying to capture a moment in time with light, form, color and mood. Participating youth were invited to choose their own subject from those available and then from the given media, paint or draw the chosen subject. All supplies were furnished, and students were given 2 hours to complete their work.

The Youth Plein Air began in 2007 with local business Odile’s Linen and Lace and CIDD CO. sponsoring the event. The Conco Community Arts Program Grant through the Community Foundation of the Ozarks’ Rural Schools Partnership awarded to Valle Schools in 2009 helped to expand the event. Volunteers for Valle Schools and Ste. Gen have organized the event since 2010. Local individuals, organizations, and businesses have continued to fund the event since that time.
