The Lady Warriors got Coach Nancy Fischer her 700th win Saturday at the Perryville Tournament.

Congratulations to Coach Fischer!

The Valle Catholic volleyball team helped Hall of Fame coach Nancy Fischer surpass a major milestone before reaching the Perryville Invitational semifinal round.

Fischer became just the fifth head coach in Missouri high school history – according to official MSHSAA records – to obtain 700 career victories on Saturday morning.

Fans and players concealed shirts designed to commemorate the imminent occasion. They did not wait long to celebrate as Valle topped Leopold 25-20, 25-9 in an initial match that began at 8 a.m.

The Lady Warriors fell to the tournament host 25-16, 25-22, but not before sweeping through their four-team pool and adding a 25-12, 25-21 triumph over rising Class 4 program Jackson.

“I’m proud of the 700 wins, but not really in a personal sense. I’m proud the Valle volleyball program has averaged 20 wins a season over the last 35 years,” Fischer said. “I think that speaks to the hard work and dedication of so many young women who have come through this program.

“And each and every one of them – whether it’s a player who played in win No. 700 today, a player who played in win No. 1 in 1983, or any of the players in between – has played a major role in the success of our volleyball program, and therefore shares in this overall accomplishment.”

Her impeccable résumé also includes seven final four appearances in 35 seasons — all at Valle Catholic – along with state titles in 1989 and 2010.

“In a larger sense, we could not do what we do on a day to day basis here at Valle if it were not for the support of all the members of our Valle family – from our students and their parents, to our faculty and staff, to the alumnae and parishioners who support our school – all of them have made the 700 wins possible.”

Lainey Bauman served four of her 16 points for aces against Leopold, and tabulated 43 kills plus 28 digs over the span of five contests.

Valle Catholic (19-3) continued pool play by defeating MICDS 25-22, 25-17 and De Soto 25-17, 25-17. All pool matches started with a 4-4 tie.

Taylor Siebert compiled 84 assists, 23 digs and 42 points with six aces on the day. Libero Sydni Basler totaled 50 digs, 43 serve receptions, 28 points and four aces.

Riley Wolk highlighted the blocking with a solo and 13 shared, and also added 26 kills. Riley Siebert chipped in 15 kills while Hannah Viox sent down 14 more and shared six blocks.

Other contributors for the Lady Warriors included Kaydi Heil with 23 digs, Olivia Meyer with seven shared blocks plus 10 digs, and Rachel Loida with 17 digs and 12 assists.

Six MAAA schools participated in the event. Only Arcadia Valley joined Valle Catholic among the last eight teams standing in the Gold Bracket.
