Blessing of the Bleachers

As part of the Ste. Genevieve Parish Capital Campaign Project, new bleachers were installed at the Valle Catholic Gym.  The new bleachers (pictured below) replaced the original ones installed when New Valle was built in 1954.

On Monday, September 30th the entire student body gathered in the gym for a prayer of thanksgiving. Valle Catholic Girls’ Athletic Director, Nancy Fischer, led the prayer.

Coach Fischer:   Welcome students and teachers.  It is always fitting after we receive a blessing to take a moment and give thanks to God and to pray to God for continued blessing as we use our gifts for the greater glory of His name and the advancement of the Kingdom.  Therefore we come together and pray.

Please respond, “Lord hear our prayer” to the following petitions:

·      Father in heaven we thank you for the love and kindness of those donors whose generous contributions made these new bleachers a reality, please bless them and their families abundantly.  For this we pray to the Lord.

·      Father in heaven, we pray for the elderly fans who will sit in these stands to watch their grandchildren play.  We thank you for their love and their support.  Please keep them safe as they enter and leave these bleachers.  For this we pray to the Lord.

·      Father in heaven we thank you for the parents who will watch their children play from these bleachers; we thank you for their love and support.  We ask that they may always be great examples of sportsmanship for our athletes.  For this we pray to the Lord. 

·      Father in heaven, we pray for the visiting teams and their fans who will use these bleachers in the years to come.  May they always feel welcome while using these facilities.  Please keep them safe during the game and on the journeys to and from Valle Catholic.  For this we pray to the Lord.

·      Father in heaven we pray for the students who will cheer for Valle Catholic teams from these bleachers, now and in the years to come.  May the always be shining examples of good Christian sportsmanship.  For this we pray to the Lord.

·      Father in heaven we pray for the athletes and coaches who will perform in front of the bleachers now and in the years to come.  Please keep them safe, may their efforts always give glory to your name and promote community among students and fans.  For this we pray to the Lord.
