Valle Catholic recently celebrated the 2014 version of Catholic Schools Week. This year’s theme was “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” The logo featured a swirl of colors interacting around a cross, which is at the center of all Catholic education.
The purpose of Catholic Schools Week is to build community awareness of, and involvement in, Catholic schools. CSW also is an occasion for schools to interest citizens in volunteering their time and talents to the school. A number of events held at Valle Catholic centered on these ideas.
Opening Mass was held at the Church of Ste. Genevieve on Sunday, January 26 followed by a breakfast sponsored by the Valle Athletic Club. Events during the week included the traditional staff and student appreciation days. Teachers were treated to a special lunch compliments of the Valle Patrons Club.
On Service Day students brought in canned goods or personal care items for the local St. Vincent DePaul Society.
The week-long celebration ended with an all school Mass on Friday with students, teachers, and parents filling all the liturgical roles. Everyone enjoyed juice and donuts in the Valle gym after Mass.
