As part of their ongoing preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, half of the Valle Catholic 8th Grade (other half will go after Christmas) recently participated in the Family Dinner Program at the St. Louis Ronald McDonald House on West Pine. The students were chaperoned by 8th Grade Religion teacher, Mrs. Jan Weiler and parent, Mrs. Stephanie Kuenzel. 8th Grade parent, Mrs. Amy Wood organized the event and also accompanied the group. The students were responsible for making shopping lists, shopping, then preparing and cooking a full meal to serve 25-30 people.
A Family Dinner spokesman for the Ronald McDonald House said, “Being able to provide a hot meal or a snack is one of the most important ways we can help those we serve feel they are truly staying at their ‘home-away-from-home.’ The West Pine house is presently at capacity with 55 residents.
