*Inclement Weather Procedure

Dear Valle Families,

Happy New Year! Winter weather is definitely upon us. As we prepare for the chance of inclement weather, there are some reminders and revisions we want to share with you.

Any notification about school closing or starting late will be sent via School Messenger. You will receive a phone call stating our procedure for the day. Notifications will also be posted on television channels 4, 5 and 12 and the radio stations J98 and KSGM. Announcements will be made as early as possible.

There will be times that Ste. Genevieve RII will close and we will remain in session or run a late start schedule. There are some revisions to the previous late start policy, so please take note. On late start days, school will begin at 9:00 a.m. The building will open at 7:25 a.m. Doors will remain locked and there will be no supervision until 7:25 a.m. Staff supervision will be provided from 7:25 until 9 a.m. in the cafeteria when the regular school day will begin. If your child needs care prior to 7:25, please contact Amy Drury in the ECDC to arrange before school care. The cost is $2.50.

Students will wear uniforms on late start days. As in the past on late start days, if your road conditions are hazardous, please keep your children home and we will work with them on what they’ve missed.

In the event of an early dismissal due to weather, a phone message will be sent via School Messenger stating the dismissal time. The administrative team will make a decision whether or not it is safe for the ECDC to remain open after school dismisses. If the ECDC is open following dismissal, the fee will be $10 for school aged children. These details will be communicated in the phone message sent regarding school’s early dismissal.

Mrs. Drury’s ECDC snow policy is posted on the Home page of SchoolSpeak under “Snow Days ECDC Procedure.” The ECDC will provide a limited number of seats for K – 5 students on days when Valle Catholic Schools are closed. Please refer to the procedure for information.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Jill Metzger
