Pro Life Prayer Service Held

A pro-life prayer service was held on January 22 to coincide with the 140 members of the Valle Catholic family participating in the 41st annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., commemorating the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.

Valle students gathered around the pro-life statue in the courtyard of the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The statue, donated in memory of Charles “Bud” Tlapek, has the inscription: “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be consoled, since they were no more.” (Matthew 2: 18-19)

Prayers were read from the letter of Paul to the Colossians and a pro-life litany was recited requesting prayers for all those affected by abortion. Special prayers were said for the safety of the Valle Catholic High School students, parents, and staff in Washington D.C.

The Spiritual Adoption baby prayer written by Bishop Fulton Sheen was recited. The service closed with the singing of “Isaiah 49: I Will Never Forget You.”
