Thursday evening, August 18, 2016 Valle students, parents, guests, teachers, and administration welcomed in the new school year with their annual Rock the Block event.
Ste. Genevieve pastor, Monsignor Dennis Stehly opened the evening with a prayer and welcomed everyone. He turned it over to Student Council Moderator, Mr. Tim Baskin who introduced “Juggling Jeff”. “Juggling Jeff” Koziatek is an award winning speaker, performer and producer. He delighted the crowd tossing knives, escaping from a straight jacket, and entertaining the crowd with his juggling skills and audience participation. The new Valle Head of Schools, Paul Hinman joined in the fun too.
1st Grade teacher, Mary Joggerst aka Mrs. Kona Ice contributed to the festivities serving Kona with assistance from her Valle Class of ’84 friends: Michelle Gatzemeyer & Kris Kertz, with Warrior Nicole Kertz, Class of ’15.
Valle Cheerleaders led the crowd in cheers and the school song followed by music and dancing. The block did indeed rock on the Valle Desert. A warm community feeling greeted new faculty members and new families. Now they could see just what being a Warrior is all about.
