Tony Melendez visits Valle

<p>Valle Catholic School played host to a special guest on Friday, March 28th. Tony Melendez, originally from Nicaragua, was born without arms due to the drug, Thalidomide. As he grew proficient at his guitar playing he also matured as a singer and composer. In 1987 he was asked by the youth of Los Angeles to be their gift to Pope John Paul II. It was this internationally broadcast event that set Tony’s career into high gear. Now more than twenty five years later Tony has traveled to all fifty states and more than 44 foreign countries.</div> <div></div> <div>At Valle Tony was joined by his brother, Jose and several others to share a special message which was presented with music and personal life stories. Tony engaged the students throughout the presentation by inviting them to come forward and ask the assembly to pray for someone in need of prayer; interacting with each other during the songs; performing "The Wave".
