Trapping Presentation

Following a lecture on westward expansion in the early 1800s, Luke Weiler, junior at Valle Catholic, gave an oral presentation/demonstration on trapping to his American History class. Students had previously learned about the lives of mountain men during the 1800s and the American participation in the lucrative fur trade of the times. Luke is a long time trapper himself.

He demonstrated the various types of traps and pelts. Luke also described when and how to set traps and how hides are conditioned and preserved giving students a chance to see pelts first hand.

Luke is the son of Kevin and Jan Weiler of Ste. Genevieve.
