*4th, 5th, & 6th Graders Compete at Regional Math Contest

On Saturday, April 11, Valle Catholic students from 4th, 5th, and 6th grades competed in the MCTM Elementary Math Contest held at Mineral Area College.

The contest consisted of four different tests: Number Sense, Target, Sprint, and Team. The top five students in each grade level were awarded ribbons and honored for their accomplishments on each of these tests.

6th grade members included Bryan Blum, Cora Friedman, Gage Heil, Kevin Koenig, Mary Roth, Macy Shuh, and Cory Stoll. 5th grade members were Mackenzie Carron, Charlie Friedman, Leo Gegg, Ashlyn Klump, and Reese Metzger. 4th grade members were Braden Coleman, Emily Flieg, Peter Roth, and Macy Wolk. Target Test results: Peter Roth took 2nd among all 4th graders; Kevin Koenig took 3rd place among all 6th graders. Sprint Test results:  Ashlyn Klump took 2nd among all 5th graders. 6th Grade Team:  Cora Friedman, Gage Heil, Kevin Koenig, and Macy Shuh took 3rd place among all teams competing.

After all tests were completed, the individual scores were averaged together to award the top overall students in each grade. These students moved on to the state competition. 4th grader Peter Roth received 4th place overall among all 4th graders and competed at the state competition at the University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg) on April 25th. Math Team members were coached by Mrs. Linda Kertz, Mrs. Theresa Kirchmer, Ms. Lindsey Burgert, and Mrs. Michelle Basler.
