4th Graders Experience 1700’s Living History Here in Ste. Genevieve
Valle Catholic 4th Graders experienced living history demonstrations as part of the Ecole du Soldat by the Milice de Ste Famille which is a living history group from Cahokia, IL along with some local historians.
Members of the Milice de Ste Famille taught the 4th Graders several 18th century colonial children’s games, demonstrated the tools used for medicine and practices of a doctor, Deuxieme Sergeant had the students mimic a basic French Infantry musket drill and French colonial artillery, and taught the children the mechanical advantage of using block and tackle to pull heavy loads with a sled rather than just pulling the weight with a rope.
