The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge officially began with a kickoff rally on Thursday, May 12th! Mrs. Metzger opened the assembly with a prayer along with helpers Alex Thorne, Logan Wise and Brody Wolk.
Mrs. Joggerst presented a check to the school for $170.00 from KONA sales at this year’s field day. The money will go to our libraries. Thank you, KONA!
Results were announced for the “We’re Silly Over Reading” Coin Challenge that began Book Fair Week. Each class brought in change for the privilege of silly-stringing Mrs. Metzger and their teachers. 8th Grade students brought in the most money so Mrs. Michelle Basler and Mrs. Jan Weiler, along with Mrs. Metzger will be silly-stringed in front of the entire school next week. We encourage all students to keep reading over the summer to help prevent the “Summer Slide”. All Valle students have been registered and are ready to go!
Your child just needs to READ and log their minutes. To access the site, visit www.scholastic.com/summer. Select KIDS Go button and then enter your child’s screen name and password that your child’s teacher attached to the information letter. Any reading completed by our students between now and September 9th will be logged online. For every 100 minutes you log for your child his/her name will be entered into a drawing for exciting prizes. A Kindle Fire and gift cards are among the prizes. The top reader will get to be “Principal for a Day”.
Be looking for a Summer Reading Night at Valle, and special dates and times that our libraries will be open for kids to come check out more books to read.
Thank you for your support in helping us grow readers at Valle.
